Cooperative

Primd aims to revolutionize hiring and learning by providing services to employers, educators, and workers that enable skills-first and skills-only approach. We believe an alternative model is possible. We also believe that workers should be treated with fairness and equality in all aspects of their work. That starts with compensation, ownership, and decision-making power.

Primd was founded on the experience of working-class people involved in public and private workforce development. Critically, Primd was founded on the back of a changing political landscape, rapidly subsiding social programs, and, subsequently, our own loss of work.

Without access to steady income and an extremely narrow funding landscape, our success is premised on creating and developing a new cooperative enterprise model. If it works, it's the world's to have and we commit to mentoring other working-class entrepreneurs looking to take a similar approach.

Our Principles

Your Time is Yours

Work as much or as little as you want or are able to. Every hour you work on a collectively recognized task or project is a share in the company's profit less special funds. At the end of every quarter the total hours worked by all members is added up, and profits are distributed in accordance with their percent contribution.

Your Time is Value

Primd can't pay salaries (yet). That doesn't mean we don't consider your time valuable. Members accept a virtual “salary.” Similar to profit-sharing, your equity stake in the company is proportional to your hours worked mediated by hour hourly salary. The “value” is determined by the aggregate of all hours at all salaries contributed.

We Are Primd

Decisions are made through a consensus model that respects the need for short-term executive decisions as well as long-term strategic decisions. You won't be voting on every little detail, but you will have the opportunity and power to affect nearly all aspects of the company's development and direction.

FluidGraph

FluidGraph is a PHP library for working with Memgraph. Primd's prototyping and front-end code is driven by PHP, HTMX, AlpineJS, and Tailwind. We needed a fast and simple way to interact with Memgraph at an object level. After taking a look at existing options (many unmaintained and focused more on Neo4J), we took a Doctrine-inspired but novel approach to creating our own solution.
